How to Connect with True Beauty
Beauty. We chase it, we dream of it, and we see it in each other. But we don’t connect with it often enough. There are times when beauty seems like a rare creature that hides in an enchanted forest with all its other fairy-tale friends, too pure and good to show itself to me. It feels so far away, so out of reach and separate from the truth of life.
And then I realized why. I’ve been looking for it in the wrong places. I let other people tell me what it’s supposed to look like, and how I’m supposed to find it. Searching for false beauty is like calling for a friend and using the wrong name.
True beauty is vulnerable. It’s sacrifice. It’s late nights with an infant under robes and blankets and bags under our eyes. It’s honesty and truth spoken to someone who needs to be set right. It’s the courage to embrace our imperfections and our stories and turn them into legends.
True beauty is who you are right now, in this very instant. Believe it. Know it. Let it fill your soul.
